A taste of Sri Lanka

Named after the leaf that goes in every pot

Karapincha is the Sri Lankan name for curry leaf. It's sizzled into oil at the start of a curry, tossed through kottu, crackled over dhal. You don't always see it, but you'd notice if it were missing.

That's how we cook. Roasted curry powder ground in the kitchen, coconut milk, a proper tempering, and recipes that came over with us from Sri Lanka. The portions are generous and the spice is honest; tell us if you'd like it milder.

You'll find us at Unit 10, College Road North Business Park, where Combo Restaurant used to be. New name, new kitchen, the same warm welcome.

Devilled chicken with red chilli and curry leaves

Crisp-fried chicken thrown in the wok with onion, capsicum, dried chilli and a sticky sweet-hot glaze. Also with mutton, beef, wild boar or prawns.

Yes. Kara-Pinch-a is at the same address, Unit 10, College Road North Business Park, Aston Clinton, HP22 5EZ. It's a new business with a new Sri Lankan menu.

Do you have vegetarian options?

Plenty. Look for the leaf symbol on the menu, or switch on "Vegetarian only" to see just those dishes. Vegetable kottu is made with egg.
